Estée Lauder has selected Israel Assa for the newly created role of senior vice-president and general manager of business operations for the company’s travel retail worldwide segment.
The appointment to the new position will be effective on the first of next month.
As the new senior vice-president and general manager, Israel Assa will be based in Switzerland to lead three regional travel retail organisations of Estée Lauder Companies.
Assa will report to Estée Lauder Travel Retail Worldwide president Olivier Bottrie.
Bottrie said: "Israel’s relationships with retailers and airport management, combined with his deep understanding of the Travel Retail business and our brands, make him an ideal candidate for this key leadership appointment.
"I am looking forward to working with him in this new capacity."
The employees of the company who would report to Israel Assa are Nathan Moris, vice-president and general manager for travel retail in the Americas; Sue Fox, vice-president and general manager for travel retail in Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Javier Simon, senior vice-president and general manager of travel retail in Asia Pacific.
The new company structure has been formed in a bid to support the existing operations of the American company in Lachen, Switzerland.
It will also help increase Estée Lauder Companies’ ability to serve global as well as regional clients better.
In 2001, Assa joined Estée Lauder Companies in New York as executive director of travel retail marketing.
Assa was appointed as the vice-president and general manager of travel retail in the Americas in July 2006.
