VariBlend, a manufacturer of custom-blending, and dual-dispensing technology, has partnered with Cosmax, which is an original design manufacturing (ODM) for the cosmetics industry.
This partnership will benefit cosmetics customers through development of new products and streamlined, supply chain efficiencies in the US.
The first beauty products created by the partnership will be manufactured by late May this year. Besides US-based high-speed filling, which will complement VariBlend’s European capabilities,Cosmax will also offer bulk, and serve as a contract filler.
The Solon facility in Ohio is the first in the US for the South Korean firm. It is an 330,000-ft2 former L’Oreal factory that is equipped to manufacture a wide range of cosmetic products . It has an annual production capacity of over 150 million units.
VariBlend president and CEO Robert Brands said. "This is a true partnership initially focused upon our Made-in-America MiniMix 20mm dispenser, which represents an innovative new option for makers of lip glosses, concealers and other on-the-go personal care products based upon fixed or variable delivery ratio of two different formulas."
Cosmax USA CEO Sok Min Yu said: "We are the leading makeup producer in Korea and China, and we are determined to become the largest contract cosmetics manufacturer in the world by 2017, through advances in the US – the largest cosmetics market – and Latin America, the fastest-growing makeup market. Our strategic partnership with VariBlend is another step in that direction."
Yu also added that the company expects over $1bn in sales for 2016. The Seoul-based Cosmax, set up in 1992, develops and produces beauty products that include skin care, makeup and hair care products.
