Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) Gillette brand has launched three month trials for US and UK consumers to try its new assisted shaving razor Treo.
The razor is designed to provide a comfortable shaving experience for both men and women who are unable to shave by themselves.
The firm has invited professional caregivers to participate in the trials being conducted to obtain first-hand feedback on the product experience. Visitors of gillettetreo.com can also sign up for the trials.
P&G global grooming research and development (R&D) vice-president Melissa Monich said: “When researching the project, the first step was to visit a care facility to see how the assisted shaving experience is different when compared to how we shave ourselves.
“Very quickly, we noticed big differences and big difficulties. For example, we realised the ergonomics of the handle and direction of the blade completely change when turned to shave another person, and thus a complete redesign would need to be engineered.”
Based on the findings from the research, the firm formulated a new blade, handle, and shave gel solutions.
The blade was designed to enhance safety and prevent clogging, while the handle features a divot that delivers control and comfort. It also includes a shave gel built into the handle for hydration and lubrication of the skin.
