US cosmetics and personal care ingredients maker Actera Ingredients has secured a strategic investment from private equity firm Arcline Investment Management.
According to Arcline, the investment will mark the first of various acquisitions to be made by the company as it seeks to establish a bio-actives personal care platform.
Actera CEO Dan Winn said: “We are very excited to partner with Arcline to support our growing actives portfolio and allow us to expand our capabilities and team to better serve customers.
“This investment also enables us to further develop cutting-edge products that the beauty industry is demanding from ingredient suppliers. We like Arcline’s commitment and approach to science-based market-driven products.”
Actera offers functional and sensory cosmetics ingredients such as bio-actives for hair and skincare, and specialty nature-derived personal care preservatives.
The company’s product portfolio includes ACS-Sophor, INCI: Glycolipids, Zeosafe, INCI: Zeolite, TeraTexture, TeraSolve, TeraGlyceryl Olive, INCI: Olive Oil Polyglyceryl-6 Esters, and more.
Commenting on the transaction, Arcline said: “Consumers are beginning to value and understand the science behind their personal care and beauty spend. The cosmetic industry is rapidly adapting with new sustainable chemistries and biologically-produced clean ingredients.
“Actera is at the forefront of this clean label movement and will provide us a platform to invest into this rapidly changing landscape.”
