






Japanese firm Kanebo to launch high-end cosmetics brand in September
Japan-based Kanebo Cosmetics plans to introduce a new brand for the Asian market later this year, as part of its global expansion plan.
It aims to make annual revenues of $273m from the new brand.
To be launched in September, the new premium-priced cosmetics brand will become the company’s flagship range, reported Cosmeticsdesign-asia.com.
ASEA introduces RENU Advanced anti-ageing skincare line
ASEA released its RENU Advanced anti-ageing skincare range in the US.
Based on the company’s flagship technology of redox signalling, RENU Advanced supports cellular functions, controls oil, removes wrinkles and maintains skin’s moisture.
Featuring four advanced products, this latest skincare line contains two items, namely RENU 28 Revitalizing Redox Gel and Intensive Redox Serum, use the company’s redox signalling technology for topical application.
Simplehuman launches Sensor Mirror Pro
Luxury housewares design provider Simplehuman introduced Sensor Mirror Pro, which merges a suite of connected platforms.
An upgrade of conventional mirrors, the sensor-activated mirror offers two magnifications and includes Simplehuman’s patented tru-lux light system, which mimics natural sunlight.
The mirror lights up automatically as soon as the face approaches and when in use, the sensitivity of the sensor increases.
With a colour rendering index (CRI) of 90, its tru-lux light system offers colour correctness, brightness and clarity.
South Korean brand TonyMoly to expand in China
South Korean cosmetics brand TonyMoly has announced plans to expand in China.
It estimates to generate$230m worth of sales in the Chinese market this year.
TonyMoly chairman Bae Hae-dong was quoted by Koreaherald.com as saying: "We plan to focus on our business in China starting this year, as we have concluded the two-year legal dispute with our local distributor."
Accoje to launch three products in Whitening Capsule Line

South Korean cosmetics brand Accoje is set to release three new products under its Whitening Capsule line this year.
The products in the range include Accoje whitening capsule essence, Accoje whitening capsule ampoule, and Accoje whitening capsule cream.
The company claims that the Whitening Capsule line received much attention from overseas buyers in China Beauty Expo in Shanghai, and Beauty World Japan.
CD&R to acquire High Ridge Brands for $415m
Private investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) announced that its agreed the $415m acquisition of High Ridge Brands Brynwood Partners.
The acquisition is valued at around $415m. Additional financial details have not been disclosed.
High Ridge Brands is a manufacturer of skin cleansing and haircare products in North America.
Dyson enters beauty market with hairdryer
Vacuum cleaner and hand dryer manufacturer Dyson launched its first hairdryer.
The company spent nearly $71m on its development of the hairdryer, called Supersonic, creating around 600 prototypes.
The new device incorporates a V9 digital motor and carries 13 blades that are designed in a way to cut noise, reported Globalcosmeticsnews.com.
Elizabeth Arden to buy Aguilera Fragrance Brands from Procter & Gamble International
Elizabeth Arden signed an agreement to purchase the global licence and some related assets of Christina Aguilera fragrance business from Procter & Gamble International.
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. US singer Christina Aguilera launched her signature fragrance in 2007 in a partnership with Procter & Gamble International.
Currently, her fragrances have a global reach and have seven brands.
Dollar Shave Club launches shower line Wanderer in US

Men’s grooming brand Dollar Shave Club (DSC) introduced Wanderer, a shower line that is claimed to be sulphate-free.
This line includes face and body products, which have been formulated with extracts of ginseng and black walnut to help hydrate skin and protect against dryness.
Lathering Shower Cloth is one of the products in this line. It includes natural jute fibres, and maintains a balance of suds and light exfoliation.
US researchers develop new material to smooth wrinkles
Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Living Proof, and Olivo Labs developed a new material, which can protect and tighten skin temporarily, as well as smooth wrinkles.
A further development could also be of help in delivering drugs to treat skin conditions such as eczema and other types of dermatitis.
The material is a silicone-based polymer that could be applied on the skin as a thin, imperceptible coating.
